Hello from the Dominican Republic!

The trees are green, the jungle is lush, the flowers are bright, and the jungle hums with a gentle whisper of birds, lizards, and bugs. We are situated on a beautiful mountain top, surrounded by this calming noisy jungle.
(Before I go on, feel free to share this email or my blog (marybrinen.kingdomjourneys.org) with others! )
On our off day this week we stuck close to 'home', adventuring down the river; sliding down waterfalls, making our way through the river, and of course hiking back up through the water. It was my perfect kind of adventure! Even my slightly swollen ankle had a good time. A few bruises, scrapes, and memories are worth more then gold in my humble opinion.
Ministry Our time in the DR is starting to get busy! We are doing 5 retreats for women, 1 for the local women here in Lajas, the others with 4 churches within an hour drive that are connected with the ministry. We're also training up leaders in each location, to lead a follow up women's group, to continue to provide women with a place to share their stories and learn how to walk as daughters of the King (aka Jesus). I love seeing women stepping into their identity and short term missions with a sustainable impact.
Personally, the Lord continues to teach me what it means to be His, to be a daughter of the King, to be a coheir with Christ. It's a journey that I've been on for a number of years, yet it never gets tiring.
As you most likely know, I was home in February to say goodbye to my nephew Cody, who died March 2nd. There have been good and bad days since I've been back on the field. But even on the really hard days I feel His presence, I feel Him pursuing me...even when I feel like I have nothing to bring. I am continually overwhelmed by His goodness, faithfulness, and love. And although being away from Nova Scotia is really hard right now, I know I'm where I need to be for the Lord to begin healing my heart.
Fundraising Update I am currently 85% funded! $1750 USD more means I'll be fully funded! Praise God! I was also blessed to have an amazing supporter fully fund my airfare home, so I could be with my family. I have been overwhelmed by how the Lord has provided the last 5 months!
This month you can help me reach my final deadline of May 1st. And if you support me this month, I will give you a souvenir from Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 or Cuba 🇨🇺! Your choice!

Much love,
Mary
