This was recently forwarded to me, and I wanted to pass it along as it is one of those stories you never hear about in prison life. Yes, this is a minimum security facility in Colorado, but it is still prison - a prison with an actual church building on the grounds! Our Good News Chaplain, Tim Bergstrom, works with inmates and serves as the Pastor at the Chapel of Hope, the facility church. The Chapel was completely paid for by fellow Christians in the community and built by the inmates themselves.

Dick Bussing who is the head of the local Good News Chaplain Support Team and a volunteer at the facility described the ministry work at Delta Correctional center this way:

“We see lives changed, and it is very rewarding. Many of the people here are like Daniel featured in the video and article. We get to know them since we are actually in the Prison about 150 hours per year. Like many he is educated, a Professional Engineer, and made a bad choice by causing a fatal DUI accident as you will read about in the article. It makes me mad when I see all the lives ruined by drugs and alcohol, but the men find out that God is in the business of forgiveness and rebuilding lives. When men go through faith based programs (like the Good News Life Long Learning Program), the recidivism rate drops dramatically.”
