For Christians, the season of Advent serves as a reminder both of the original waiting that was done by the Hebrews for the birth of their Messiah as well as the waiting for Christ’s return. As we reflect this week, let us be reminded that not only did God have a plan, He has a purpose for His people and His son, and the only motivation for His coming was LOVE.
With all the all the rush of the season, God can handle every hardship, discouragement, delay, depression, frustration, failure, concern, anxiety, fear, relationship, strife, ailment… none of which catch Him off guard. He is more than able to help and He promises again and again that He is not going to leave us unprepared, nor is He unable to guide us.
Christmas is proof of His love, and that He keeps His promises. Remember this truth: God came for us, God came for you and God is coming back for us,. His motivation is and was eternal love; unfailing, unstoppable love.
Contemplate on this over the week. If you’re worn down by the season, this truth can change your Christmas. When you pause at the manger, you see a message of life. Let’s not allow ourselves to forget the reason and purpose behind all the fuss… the real truth of Christmas summed up in “for God so loved the world…”
